Taiwan evacuates thousands ahead of Typhoon Fung-wong

Tuesday, November 11, 2025 -Taiwanese authorities have evacuated 3,000 residents as the island braces for the arrival of Typhoon Fung-wong, which is forecasted to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and potential flooding.

Emergency services have been deployed to vulnerable areas, and local governments have urged residents to stay indoors and secure property.

The typhoon is expected to hit Taiwan’s eastern and northern regions first, with the potential to disrupt transportation, electricity, and daily life.

Officials are closely monitoring the storm’s path, issuing warnings for landslides, flash floods, and power outages, and activating shelters for those displaced. Airlines and ferry services have already begun adjusting schedules in anticipation of severe weather.

Authorities are emphasizing the importance of early evacuation and preparedness, reminding citizens to stock emergency supplies and follow official guidance.

Residents are being urged to avoid risky areas near rivers, coastal zones, and slopes, as the typhoon could intensify quickly over the coming hours.
