Snowstorm on Saturday could drop 10+ inches on Chicago area
Friday, November 28, 2025 -A Winter Storm Warning and Watch have been issued for the Chicago area as a major snow event is forecast for Saturday.
Snow is expected to begin late Friday night and intensify Saturday morning, potentially dumping 6 to 10 inches of snow — with isolated spots possibly seeing more than 10 inches depending on the final track of the storm.
Forecasters say the snow may fall in heavy bursts during Saturday, with rates reaching up to an inch per hour in the heaviest periods. The snowstorm is expected to create dangerous travel conditions: roads could become slick and visibility may be severely reduced, and there could be delays or cancellations at major airports.
While the snow is likely to taper off Saturday night, the cold air will remain, bringing frigid temperatures Sunday and into early next week. The combination of fresh snow and dropping temperatures may extend the period of hazardous road conditions even after snowfall stops.
