Friday, November 7, 2025 -Since the commencement of the year, nearly 100 individuals have been documented as abducted or missing in Syria, with ongoing reports of newly enforced disappearances, according to the United Nations human rights office on Friday.
“Eleven months have elapsed since the ouster of the former government in Syria, yet we continue to receive concerning reports regarding numerous abductions and enforced disappearances,” spokesperson for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Thameen Al-Keetan informed reporters in Geneva.
The OHCHR has documented at least 97 individuals who have been abducted or missing since January of this year, acknowledging the difficulty in ascertaining an exact figure.This latest figure is compounded by the over 100,000 individuals who went missing under the ousted President Bashar al-Assad, as stated by Al-Keetan.
