Saturday, November 22, 2025 -Several Democratic lawmakers have filed formal complaints with the U.S. Capitol Police after President Donald Trump publicly accused them of “seditious behavior” in response to a video they released.
In that video, the six lawmakers — all with military or intelligence backgrounds — urged service members and intelligence personnel to refuse “illegal orders.” Trump responded on his social platform by calling them “traitors” and repeating a user’s call to “hang them,” adding that their behavior was “punishable by death.”
The lawmakers who filed the complaints include Rep. Jason Crow of Colorado, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, and Rep. Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania. They argue that Trump’s posts pose a direct threat to their personal safety and the safety of their staff, especially in light of increased harassment and bomb threats directed at their offices.
Democratic leaders have strongly condemned Trump’s remarks. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called it “an outright threat” and said every American should denounce those comments immediately. House Democratic leadership said they are coordinating with security services to protect the lawmakers and urged Trump to delete the posts and retract what they described as violent rhetoric.
