Rock legend ACE FREHLEY, founding KISS guitarist, dies at 74

Friday, October 17, 2025-Rock and roll lost one of its most electrifying icons as Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist and founding member of KISS, has died at the age of 74.

Known for his space-age persona “The Spaceman,” Frehley helped define the band’s signature sound, a mix of explosive riffs, anthemic hooks, and theatrical flair that transformed KISS into one of the biggest rock acts of the 1970s.

His innovative guitar solos and songwriting on hits like Shock Me and Detroit Rock City cemented his legacy as a pioneer of hard rock and glam performance.

Fans and fellow musicians flooded social media with tributes, remembering Frehley as both a trailblazer and a rebel. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, his longtime bandmates, praised his unmatched creativity and raw stage energy, while countless rock artists cited him as a major influence.

Across generations, his signature lightning-bolt makeup and Les Paul guitar became symbols of rock’s loudest, proudest era. Fans gathered outside music venues and memorabilia stores, lighting candles and blasting Rock and Roll All Nite in his honor.

Frehley’s death marks the end of a defining chapter in rock history, but his impact will echo through every power chord and pyrotechnic-laden show to come. As tributes pour in, the world remembers the man who took rock to the stars, a guitarist whose spirit, swagger, and space-born style made him immortal long before his final curtain call.
