Wednesday, October 22, 2025- Paul Ingrassia, nominated by President Donald Trump for a key government position, is facing bipartisan opposition after text messages allegedly showed him describing himself as having a “Nazi streak” and making derogatory comments about Black heritage observances.
Ingrassia, who currently serves as a White House liaison at the Department of Homeland Security, has denied the allegations, claiming the texts may have been taken out of context. Nevertheless, several Republican senators, including Senate leadership, have expressed concerns, signaling possible withdrawal of support.
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, scheduled to hold Ingrassia’s confirmation hearing soon, may see his nomination stalled or blocked. Critics cite both the controversial text messages and his lack of legal experience as reasons to reconsider the appointment.
