Friday, September 19, 2025 -During a U.S. state visit to the United Kingdom on September 18, 2025, President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the enduring strength of the US-UK "special relationship," despite some policy differences.
The leaders highlighted cooperation in technology, defense, and global security while maintaining cordial diplomatic rapport.
A major focus of the visit was a $350 billion tech agreement designed to advance artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and civil nuclear energy.
The deal is expected to create up to 17,500 jobs, with investments from major tech companies including Nvidia, OpenAI, and Google. Both leaders also expressed support for Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression, while differing on Palestinian statehood and border security policies.
Despite disagreements, both Trump and Starmer highlighted mutual respect. Starmer described Trump as “genuinely likeable,” and the two underscored the importance of continued collaboration between their countries on global challenges.
