China seeks to exploit TRUMP turmoil to rally leaders against U.S.-led order

Monday, September 1, 2025 -Beijing is moving quickly to leverage political turmoil in Washington, aiming to rally global leaders behind an alternative to the U.S.-led international order.

According to reports, Chinese officials have been quietly pressing the case that America’s credibility is weakening under former President Donald Trump’s combative rhetoric and divisive policies.

The effort comes as trade disputes, shifting alliances, and domestic unrest in the United States raise doubts abroad about Washington’s leadership role. The strategy has found some resonance, with leaders in Asia, Africa, and parts of Europe expressing interest in closer alignment with China’s vision for multilateral cooperation.

State-backed media in Beijing has openly framed the moment as proof that the U.S.-centric system is faltering, while portraying China as a stable alternative. At the same time, critics argue that Beijing’s campaign is less about global unity and more about consolidating its own influence in regions where America’s reach has diminished.

The outcome could shape the balance of power for years to come. If China succeeds in presenting itself as the anchor of a new, multipolar world order, it may accelerate the erosion of U.S. dominance in international affairs.

But the push also risks backlash, particularly among nations wary of Beijing’s growing assertiveness. With Washington distracted by political fights at home, global competitors are watching closely to see whether China can turn America’s turmoil into an opportunity.
