Thursday, September 18, 2025 - Brazilian police have seized the phone of Francisca Karollainy Barbosa Cavalcante, the woman who accused former Chelsea and Arsenal defender David Luiz of threatening her after she allegedly refused a thr*es*me.
The 26-year-old social worker had claimed Luiz sent her
intimidating messages following the end of their alleged affair, including
warnings that her son could “pay the consequences” and even that she could
“disappear.”
Luiz, now playing for Fortaleza in Brazil, has strongly denied the accusations. He insists he never met Karollainy, though he admitted to a brief exchange of messages. He also said there was no record of them ever staying at the hotel where she claimed they met.
Court documents show Luiz sued Karollainy for defamation and
slander, prompting a judge to approve the seizure of her phone for forensic
examination. While her lawyer maintained she handed the device over
voluntarily, police said it was confiscated during a search of her home.
The legal back-and-forth follows Karollainy’s initial report
to police last month, which led to a restraining order being issued against
Luiz. She also alleged that he tried to offer her money after she went public
with her claims.
Luiz, who is engaged to long-time partner Bruna Loureiro,
has not commented further on the case due to a judicial secrecy order.
