Sunday, August 24, 2025 - The Justice Department has released transcripts and audio from its two-day interview with Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein now serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Conducted under the Trump administration, the conversations shed light on Maxwell’s connections to Epstein’s circle and her relationships with powerful figures, though they stopped short of delivering major revelations.
The disclosures are drawing sharp reactions across political lines. Maxwell described Donald Trump as “a gentleman in all respects” and dismissed the idea of a secret “client list,” fueling criticism from those who see the release as carefully curated to ease pressure on Trump and his allies. Others point to her denials regarding Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton as an attempt to undermine years of speculation and testimony from Epstein’s accusers.
The release is unlikely to quiet ongoing scrutiny. While the DOJ framed the transcripts as a step toward transparency, many argue they offer little beyond political utility for Trump’s defenders. With Epstein’s shadow still looming large, the calls for deeper accountability and unsealed evidence are only expected to intensify.
