Thursday, August 7, 2025 - An urgent recall has been issued for three Dubai-style chocolate products due to the presence of undeclared allergens that could pose a serious health risk to consumers with nut allergies.
The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has advised that Noesis
Shokolade Love of Dubai, Fix it Dubai Kunafa Chocolate, and Le Damas Dubai
Chocolate Kunafa and Pistachio all contain peanuts and other types of
nuts, specifically almonds, cashews, and walnuts, that are not
declared on their labels.
The FSA warned that consuming these products without knowing
about the hidden ingredients could trigger severe allergic reactions. In light
of this, food businesses have been ordered to immediately halt sales, withdraw
the items from shelves, and issue public recalls.
All affected products, regardless of batch or best-before
date, have been traced back to a supplier named Black Sea Trading Ltd, which
authorities say has so far been uncontactable. As a result, food safety action
is required at the retail level to protect public health.
Consumers who have purchased any of these chocolates are
strongly advised not to eat them. Instead, they should dispose of the products
and report to their local Trading Standards office with details of where the
item was bought.
Dubai-style chocolate, originally created by Dubai-based
firm Fix Dessert Chocolatier, has seen a surge in global popularity since
its launch in 2021. It typically contains layers of crispy kunafa, pistachio
cream, and tahini spread. A viral TikTok video by food influencer Maria Vehera
helped elevate its status, pushing up demand worldwide.
This rising demand is also contributing to a global
pistachio shortage, with Iran reportedly exporting 40% more pistachios to the
UAE in the past six months compared to the entire previous year. The situation
is being compounded by poor harvests in the United States, the world’s largest
pistachio produce
