Thursday, August 7, 2025 - A seven-year-old boy has been left with serious injuries after being mauled by a dangerously out-of-control XL Bully dog inside his family home in South Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
The incident occurred on Monday evening in the kitchen,
where the registered XL Bully reportedly lunged at the child, causing severe
neck injuries that required urgent surgery. South Yorkshire Police said they
received 15 separate calls about a dog attack at the property, prompting a
swift response to the scene at around 8pm. The dog has since been seized by
officers.
Just hours later, police were called to another dog attack
in Doncaster, where a nine-year-old boy was bitten on the ear by the family's
Shih Tzu. The small dog was also seized by police.
In response to both incidents, South Yorkshire Police issued
a safety advisory to parents and pet owners as school holidays get underway.
The force stated: “We understand the joy that pets bring to a home and a
child’s life, but as children spend more time at home and visit friends,
family, and local parks, we are continuing to urge parents and owners to act.”
“Any dog of any breed can bite and cause harm or fear. It is
important that you understand your dog, its behaviour, and ensure it has a safe
space where it can be alone."
