Friday, February 18, 2022 – Shock and grief has engulfed the media fraternity after a journalist attached to Nation media Group committed suicide in his house.
The deceased journalist, identified as Titus Maero, was a Sports correspondent in Kakamega County.
His decomposing body had a rope around the neck.
He also left a suicide note whose contents are yet to be revealed.
According to reports, the 59-year-old journalist was suffering from depression.
He had also been battling cancer for over 15 years.
Maero was last seen in public on Thursday last week and according to his fellow journalists, he rarely interacted with people.
“He was reserved and always kept to himself,’’ one of the journalists said.
He had separated from his wife for nearly 20 years, never to remarry again.
His body was taken to Kakamega Referral Hospital Mortuary and investigations into his death have been launched.
