Friday, February 18, 2022 – Kakamega County Senator, Cleophas Malala, has shocked Kenyans after he abandoned Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi in broad daylight.
In a statement on Facebook, Malala candidly said the Western Region will vote for Deputy President William Ruto, raising eyebrows whether Mudavadi had reneged on his promise to reach the ballot.
“Western Kenya region is fully behind William Ruto as the next president of the Republic of Kenya.
“We have voted for Raila Odinga enough times and we have nothing to show for it as a region.
“It’s time to change the players in the game,” Malala said.
Malala’s sentiment comes as Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi said Kenya Kwanza Alliance is yet to pick its flag-bearer for the August 9 General Election, ruling out claims that Ruto will be the coalition’s presidential candidate.
The alliance brings together ANC, Dr. Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, and Moses Wetangula’s Ford-Kenya.
