Friday, February 18, 2022 – The move by Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) to join Deputy President William Ruto seems to be a blessing in disguise for ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
This is after a recent survey revealed Raila has gained huge support from Western Kenya since Mudavadi and Wetangula left to join forces with Ruto under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
According to a survey by TIFA, a research institute, since Mudavadi and Wetangula’s exit from OKA to join Ruto, Raila has gained more support contrary to what people thought.
The polls show that Raila’s support in the region has risen by 10 percent, thanks to many defections from ANC and Ford Kenya to Azimio La Umoja Movement.
“For Raila’s significant gain in Western, it seems Mudavadi and Wetangula’s move into the Kenya Kwanza alliance has not (yet) yielded measurable dividends, perhaps a reflection of the reported defections from ANC and Ford to ODM,” TIFA poll said.
Though Raila is still the most preferred candidate in the region, DP Ruto’s constant visits to the region have also yielded fruits though not that much.
The poll says that Ruto has only gained two percent support in the vote-rich region.
