Tuesday, January 19, 2016 - Kenyan motorists have been warned to be extra vigilant after
it emerged that Highway Robbers have devised a new tactic to attack and rob unsuspecting
road users.
Through a widely circulated message on social media, it has emerged
that the robbers are using nails to spike oranges which are then spread on the
roads.
The robbers then lay and wait for drivers to run over the
oranges and thereby bursting their car tyres. When the drivers stop to change
their flat tyres, they fall prey to the robbers.
Drivers are now being urged to avoid running over oranges that
might be lying on the highways and estate roads and if they get a tyre burst, to
keep going until they get to a well-lit and safe area.
