Man charged with involuntary manslaughter over death of Prince ALBERT's cousin aged 29

Friday, October 30, 2026 - A shocking investigation has emerged in Monaco following the death of Antoine de Massy, a 29-year-old relative of Prince Albert II. A 42-year-old Ukrainian man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to assist a person in danger after Antoine was found dead in a park near the Villa Sauber museum on October 25, 2026.

The development has drawn international attention, particularly after Monaco's royal palace confirmed the young man's death and expressed condolences to his grieving family. The suspect has been remanded in custody as investigators work to establish exactly what happened.

According to Monaco's Prosecutor General, Stéphane Thibault, the suspect had been in contact with Antoine before his death, with CCTV footage helping investigators establish their movements. An autopsy reportedly indicated that Antoine died following a fall of approximately 13 metres. The 42-year-old suspect, who has lived in Monaco for around 30 years, has denied the allegations and declined to answer questions before an investigating judge.

Prosecutors have stressed that the precise sequence of events remains unclear and that an accidental fall has not been ruled out. The charges concern alleged actions that may have occurred at different times, and the suspect remains presumed innocent as the investigation continues.

Antoine was the son of Baron Christian de Massy and grandson of Princess Antoinette, the elder sister of the late Prince Rainier III, making him Prince Albert's first cousin once removed. He was passionate about tennis and reportedly dreamed of representing Monaco at the Olympic Games.

Prince Albert and Princess Charlène expressed their sadness over the loss, offering heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. As investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding his death, the case has left Monaco's royal circle and the wider public seeking answers about the tragic loss of a young life.
