Wednesday, September 30, 2026 - Saudi Arabia has denied reports that its representatives took part in a meeting with Israeli officials during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent visit to the United Arab Emirates.
A senior Saudi official rejected the reports on Wednesday, after Israeli media claimed that Saudi representatives had joined wider discussions following Netanyahu’s meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Netanyahu visited Abu Dhabi on Sunday for talks with Sheikh Mohammed, with the UAE confirming the meeting and saying the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and regional challenges.
Israeli officials said the meeting lasted several hours and focused heavily on Iran. Reports about a broader meeting involving Saudi officials, however, have been disputed, with Saudi Arabia saying no Saudi representative attended.
The denial comes as regional diplomatic and security discussions remain closely watched, particularly over Iran, the Houthis and broader Middle East security cooperation.
Saudi Arabia and Israel do not have formal diplomatic relations, making any reported direct contact between their officials particularly sensitive. For now, Riyadh's position is that no Saudi-Israeli meeting took place during Netanyahu’s UAE visit.
