Saturday, September 19, 2026 - Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams has revealed that she underwent an emergency partial hysterectomy in May after doctors discovered 21 uterine fibroids, including one that had grown to approximately the size of a cantaloupe.
The 45-year-old shared details of the health scare during an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, explaining that she initially believed symptoms including prolonged menstrual cycles, migraines and severe fatigue could be related to perimenopause.
Williams discovered the fibroids after accompanying a friend to a fertility appointment and deciding to have herself examined. A specialist was reportedly alarmed by what was found during the examination and quickly sent her for an MRI.
Surgery was scheduled about two weeks later, and Williams said the experience happened so quickly that the reality of what had happened did not fully hit her until she woke up in the hospital.
The reality star, who is mother to seven-year-old daughter Pilar, said the surgery ended her ability to carry another child but also dramatically improved her quality of life. Williams has dealt with fibroids since her late 20s and previously experienced serious complications during pregnancy.
Now recovering, she is speaking publicly about her experience to encourage women to take unexplained symptoms seriously, seek medical advice and advocate for proper examinations rather than assuming they know the cause of changes in their bodies.
