More than 1,200 displaced from Sudan’s Blue Nile, North Darfur amid insecurity

Thursday, September 10, 2026 - More than 1,200 people have been displaced from Sudan’s Blue Nile and North Darfur regions as worsening insecurity forces families to leave their homes, according to a UN agency.

The latest displacement highlights the continuing humanitarian pressure facing communities already struggling with limited access to food, shelter, healthcare and other basic necessities.

In Blue Nile, renewed insecurity has pushed civilians from affected communities, while violence and instability in North Darfur have also forced families to seek safer areas.

Many of those displaced are arriving with few resources and face difficult conditions as humanitarian needs continue to grow. Aid agencies are monitoring the situation and assessing the needs of newly displaced populations.

The fresh displacement underscores the urgency of protecting civilians and ensuring humanitarian access across Sudan.

With insecurity continuing to disrupt communities, humanitarian organisations are calling for greater assistance for displaced families and safer conditions that would allow people to receive essential support and, when possible, return home.
