MILEY CYRUS reveals the biggest thing people get wrong about her godmother DOLLY PARTON

Friday, September 18, 2026 - Miley Cyrus has opened up about the biggest misconception surrounding her late godmother, Dolly Parton, saying the country music icon was far more authentic than her glamorous public image might suggest.

Speaking with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Cyrus explained that while Parton was known for her elaborate hair, makeup and larger-than-life style, the person behind the image was deeply genuine. Cyrus said that authenticity was one of the qualities that made their relationship so special.

Cyrus also revealed details of her final conversation with Parton, which focused on her new album, Bass Persuades. She said Parton had long been the first person she would send a vinyl copy of a new record to, and she intended to continue that tradition despite her death.

Cyrus credited Parton with helping her understand how someone can create a powerful public persona while remaining true to who they are privately, a lesson she connected to her own experience portraying Hannah Montana.

The singer also remembered the advice Parton gave her about performing through emotional moments. Cyrus said she often cried while singing, while Parton viewed music as a form of escapism and encouraged her to get through the performance.

Even when Cyrus admitted that she could not simply switch off her emotions, she said Parton loved her for being herself. With Cyrus now preparing to release Bass Persuades, her latest reflections have given fans a closer look at the personal bond and guidance she shared with Parton until the country star's death on August 25, 2026, aged 80.
