Tuesday, September 15, 2026 - Macklemore has been removed from the remaining U.S. dates of Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour after his outspoken pro-Palestinian remarks during recent performances at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.
The rapper used his opening set to call for a “Free Palestine” and performed his protest song Hind’s Hall, triggering backlash from several Jewish advocacy groups and renewed debate over political statements at major concerts.
The decision came after multiple venues reportedly indicated they would not host the shows if Macklemore remained on the lineup. Tour promoter Messina Touring Group said keeping him on the bill could have resulted in cancellations affecting hundreds of thousands of fans.
Macklemore has also described difficult conversations with Sheeran and claimed that pressure from stadium owners played a major role in his removal.
The fallout is now bigger than one artist losing a tour slot. Macklemore says the controversy will not silence his activism, while critics argue that major entertainment events should not become platforms for one-sided political messaging.
