Thursday, September 17, 2026 - Jennifer Garner did not quit Netflix’s Animals after being cast as Ben Affleck’s wife.
Reports indicate that she was only involved in early negotiations in 2024 and never officially signed on to the project.
The role ultimately went to Gillian Anderson, while the confirmed cast includes Affleck, Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, and several other stars.
Netflix’s official cast announcement does not list Garner, challenging claims that she left the production after accepting the part.
Animals is scheduled for release in select cinemas and on Netflix on October 9, 2026. The film’s casting history continues to attract attention because of Affleck and Garner’s past relationship, but available reports show that Garner was never formally attached to the movie.
