Thursday, September 10, 2026 - Jane Austen is getting a bold modern makeover in Wales this autumn as Pride & Prejud(ish) prepares to bring its fast-paced comedy to audiences across the country.
Created by Richard Tunley for Black RAT Productions, the new show opens at Blackwood Miners’ Institute from September 30 and will tour Welsh venues through October.
The production puts Austen’s familiar Bennet family into modern South Wales, with Lizzie Bennet struggling to keep her family together as wedding chaos, relationship problems and long-running tensions explode around her.
The four stars—Zoë Davies, Jemima Nicholas, Olivia Edwards and Kate Powell—play all the characters, with physical comedy and original songs adding to the energetic format.
With performances scheduled in towns and cities including Abergavenny, Cardiff, Aberdare, Maesteg, Pontardawe and Newport, the production is positioned as a lively new attraction for Welsh theatre audiences this autumn.
Supported by Arts Council of Wales and recommended for audiences aged 14 and over, Pride & Prejud(ish) is already generating attention by combining a globally recognised literary world with distinctly modern Welsh humour.
