Thursday, September 10, 2026 - At least eight people, mostly children, were injured in a drone attack attributed to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum, adding to growing fears over the safety of civilians as drone warfare intensifies across Sudan.
A separate report from Sudan Tribune said nine people were injured and one person killed in drone attacks around northern and western Omdurman on Thursday, highlighting the rapidly changing casualty picture.
The attack comes as children continue to face a disproportionate share of the violence. UNICEF reported that at least 330 children were killed or injured across Sudan during the first six months of 2026, with drone attacks accounting for a significant share of reported child casualties.
The agency has warned that homes, schools, hospitals, markets and other civilian facilities are increasingly being exposed to attacks.
The latest injuries underline the urgent need for stronger protection of civilians as the conflict continues to spread the threat of drone strikes. With humanitarian access already severely constrained and essential services under pressure, further attacks could deepen displacement and put even more children at risk.
The immediate priority is clear: civilians must be protected, humanitarian assistance must reach vulnerable communities, and pressure must increase for an end to attacks on populated areas.
