3 Syrian soldiers injured while clearing mines

Thursday, September 23, 2026 - Three Syrian soldiers were injured Wednesday when a mine exploded as they worked to remove mines in Al-Hurriya village in the Tal Abyad area of northern Raqqa province.

The soldiers, members of the Military Engineering Administration, sustained injuries of varying degrees, according to Syria’s Defense Ministry.

The ministry said the incident occurred while engineering teams were carrying out mine-clearance operations in the area.

Officials did not immediately provide further details about the soldiers’ conditions or the origin of the mine.

The incident highlights the continuing danger posed by mines and unexploded remnants of war across parts of Syria.

Mine-clearance teams continue working to remove explosive hazards and make affected areas safer for residents, including communities seeking to return to their homes and farmland.
