Tuesday, August 11, 2026 - South Korean police have raided the offices of Korea Airports Corporation and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as investigators intensify their probe into the 2024 Jeju Air crash that killed 179 people.
Officers also searched the Busan Regional Office of Aviation on Tuesday, seeking additional evidence as authorities examine whether regulatory or infrastructure failures contributed to the disaster at Muan International Airport.
The investigation is focusing in particular on the concrete localiser structure near the runway, which investigators believe may have played a critical role in the severity of the crash. Police are examining potential professional negligence leading to death or injury, with dozens of people already under investigation.
The latest raids indicate that scrutiny is extending beyond the airline to government agencies and organizations responsible for airport operations and aviation oversight.
