Saturday, August 8, 2026 - Ibiza could be heading for a major change in its nightlife industry as officials propose stopping the issuance of licenses for new nightclubs across the island.
The Consell d’Eivissa has put forward draft measures that would prevent new venues from entering the market, while existing licensed clubs would be allowed to continue operating. The proposal is part of a broader effort to manage tourism growth and respond to mounting pressure on the island.
The proposed freeze is not aimed at shutting down Ibiza’s established clubs. Instead, officials are looking at ways to control further expansion while addressing concerns including illegal parties, unlicensed events, infrastructure pressure and the sustainability of mass tourism.
