Monday, August 10, 2026 - Houthi forces launched fresh ballistic missile and drone attacks around Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Mokha, striking residential areas and raising fears of a wider escalation.
The attacks came only hours after an earlier wave reportedly killed seven people and wounded about 30 others, including civilians, according to Yemeni military officials.
The latest strikes reportedly hit homes and other civilian areas near Mokha, while earlier attacks targeted civilian facilities, infrastructure and electricity-generating sites.
The violence has intensified pressure on the strategic port near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a key shipping route connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
The renewed attacks mark a serious escalation in an area that had experienced a relative lull in large-scale fighting.
With civilian casualties mounting and missile and drone strikes continuing, concerns are growing that the violence could spread further along Yemen’s western coast and threaten already fragile security around the vital Red Sea corridor.
