Tens of millions swelter as heat wave blasts US

Wednesday, June 1, 2026- Tens of millions of Americans are enduring a powerful heat wave as dangerously high temperatures spread across large parts of the United States.

Weather officials have issued excessive heat warnings and advisories in multiple states, urging residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and check on vulnerable people, including the elderly and young children.

The extreme heat is placing additional pressure on power grids, healthcare services, and emergency responders as demand for electricity and cooling continues to rise.

Cities are opening cooling centers while authorities warn that prolonged exposure to the heat could lead to heat exhaustion, heatstroke, and other serious health risks. Residents are being encouraged to follow official weather updates and take precautionary measures throughout the heat event.

The widespread heat wave highlights the growing need for preparedness during extreme weather conditions. With temperatures expected to remain well above seasonal averages in many areas, individuals, businesses, and local governments are being urged to prioritize safety, conserve energy where possible, and remain alert until conditions improve.
