Friday, July 31, 2026 -Young musicians from Cork's Kabin Studio are preparing to take the stage at the Belfast Fleadh as part of North South Sounds 2026, a new cross-border music initiative supported by the Ed Sheeran Foundation.
The project will bring together around 50 young performers from Cork and Belfast to showcase original collaborations that blend traditional Irish music with hip-hop, pop, rock, and other contemporary styles. The performances mark the official launch of a six-month programme designed to expand access to music education and creative opportunities for young people.
Among those representing Kabin Studio are talented young artists who have built a reputation for their creativity and energetic performances.
Working alongside Belfast's Oh Yeah Centre and Music Generation Cork City, participants have spent weeks developing original musical fusions that celebrate diversity, local culture, and artistic expression. The initiative also aims to strengthen friendships and collaboration between young musicians from communities across the island of Ireland.
Ed Sheeran has described the programme as an important step in ensuring more young people have the chance to discover their musical potential.
With workshops, youth-led concerts, and community events planned through the end of the year, North South Sounds 2026 is expected to create lasting opportunities for emerging artists while inspiring the next generation of performers. The Belfast Fleadh performance is set to be the first major milestone in what organizers hope will become a long-term success.
