Monday, June 8, 2026- Israel has carried out new airstrikes on Iran, including a petrochemical facility in the country’s southwest, despite reported warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump urging restraint as tensions surge across the region.
According to regional and international reports, the strike targeted parts of the Mahshahr petrochemical complex, an industrial hub in Iran’s energy sector, alongside additional military-linked sites.
Iranian officials said sections of the facility were damaged, though the full extent of the impact has not been independently verified.
The latest operation comes amid a rapid escalation in the Israel–Iran confrontation, with both sides exchanging missile and airstrikes across multiple fronts, including Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen-linked attacks.
The strikes also follow diplomatic pressure from Washington, where Trump has publicly urged both sides to reduce hostilities and warned against further destabilization of the region.
Despite calls for de-escalation, Israel has continued targeting what it describes as strategic infrastructure linked to Iran’s military and industrial capabilities, signaling that the conflict remains active even as external powers attempt to broker restraint and prevent a wider regional war.
