Manhunt for retired special forces soldier accused of shooting wife enters 5th day in Tennessee

Wednesday, May 6, 2026- A multi-agency manhunt in Tennessee has entered its fifth day as authorities continue searching for a retired Special Forces soldier accused of shooting his wife before fleeing into dense woodland terrain.

Law enforcement officials say the suspect remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous, prompting heightened alerts across Stewart County and surrounding areas. The case has rapidly escalated into one of the state’s most urgent active searches due to the suspect’s advanced military training and survival skills.

Investigators say the shooting occurred at the couple’s residence in Dover, after which the suspect allegedly fled on foot into heavily forested terrain, where he has so far evaded capture.

Authorities have deployed K-9 units, drones, and aerial surveillance as part of a coordinated search effort involving local police, state troopers, and federal assistance. Officials warn that the suspect’s background in special operations and wilderness survival makes the search significantly more complex and potentially prolonged.

Residents in nearby communities have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, while avoiding direct contact with anyone matching the suspect’s description.

Law enforcement agencies say they are expanding the search perimeter as new tips are evaluated, but no confirmed sightings have been reported in recent days. As the manhunt continues, authorities emphasize that public safety remains the top priority while efforts intensify to bring the suspect into custody.
