Palestinian boy, 14, among two killed in settler attack near West Bank school

Friday, April 24, 2026-A 14-year-old Palestinian boy was among two people killed after Israeli settlers opened fire near a school in the occupied West Bank, in what witnesses describe as a direct attack on students and civilians.

The incident took place in the village of al-Mughayyir, where gunfire erupted close to a school, triggering panic as children and residents tried to flee.

According to local officials and eyewitnesses, settlers entered the area and began shooting toward the school, with additional gunfire reported as people rushed to help those injured.

The victims were identified as Aws al-Naasan, a 14-year-old student, and Jihad Abu Naim, an adult who had gone to the scene after hearing the shooting. Several others were wounded during the attack, adding to growing concerns about civilian safety in the area.

The Israeli military said a reservist opened fire after stones were thrown at a vehicle, and an investigation is now underway. However, the incident has intensified scrutiny over rising settler violence and the safety of schools in the West Bank.

Rights groups warn that such attacks are becoming more frequent, deepening tensions and raising fears for children and families living in conflict-affected communities.
