MIKE VRABEL to seek counseling, won't be with Patriots for NFL draft Day 3

Friday, April 24, 2026-New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel will not be present for Day 3 of the NFL Draft as he begins counseling following a recent off-field controversy involving photos published of him with former NFL reporter Dianna Russini.

The decision comes as Vrabel takes a step back from team activities to focus on personal and family matters during the draft weekend.

Vrabel addressed the situation by stating he is prioritizing becoming the best version of himself for his family, his team, and the organization. He confirmed he will begin counseling immediately and described the move as something he would also recommend to players under similar circumstances.

Despite his absence on Saturday, he is expected to remain in contact with the Patriots’ front office during the final rounds of the draft.

The Patriots organization has expressed full support for Vrabel’s decision, emphasizing that his involvement in earlier rounds of the draft remains intact and that executive leadership will manage Day 3 selections.

While he steps away temporarily, the team maintains confidence in its draft process as it continues to shape its roster for the upcoming season.
