Giants trade DEXTER LAWRENCE to the Bengals

Sunday, April 19, 2026-New York Giants have traded star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals in a major roster shake-up ahead of the NFL draft.

The deal sends Lawrence to Cincinnati in exchange for the No. 10 overall pick, marking one of the most significant defensive trades of the offseason and immediately reshaping both franchises’ strategies moving forward.

Lawrence, a Pro Bowl-caliber interior lineman, had been a cornerstone of the Giants’ defense since being drafted in 2019. His departure follows ongoing contract tension and a broader organizational shift toward rebuilding through draft capital.

For New York, the move signals a clear pivot toward youth and long-term roster flexibility, with the additional first-round pick giving them major leverage in reshaping both sides of the ball.

For the Bengals, the acquisition is a win-now move aimed at strengthening their defensive front with proven elite talent. The addition of Lawrence is expected to instantly elevate their run defense and interior pass rush, addressing a key weakness as the team continues to build around its championship aspirations.

The trade underscores two contrasting timelines—New York betting on the future, and Cincinnati pushing aggressively for immediate contention.
