European leaders demand that U.S. cease-fire with Iran include Lebanon

Friday, April 10, 2026-European leaders have intensified pressure on Washington, calling for the U.S.-Iran cease-fire to explicitly include Lebanon amid escalating Israeli strikes in the region.

The appeal comes as the fragile truce brokered between the United States and Iran faces mounting strain from continued violence involving Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

A coalition of European governments, including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain, has urged that the cease-fire be expanded to cover all active conflict zones, warning that excluding Lebanon risks undermining the entire agreement.

Officials argue that ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon threaten to unravel diplomatic progress and deepen regional instability.

The European Union has also stressed that any lasting settlement must address both the Strait of Hormuz security concerns and the broader regional spillover effects of the Iran conflict.

Leaders say the priority now is to prevent further escalation, protect civilians in Lebanon, and ensure that the cease-fire evolves into a wider, enforceable framework for peace across the Middle East.
