Details on investigation leading up to D4vd's arrest in death of CELESTE RIVAS HERNANDEZ

Sunday, April 19, 2026-Authorities say the investigation into D4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) intensified over several months after the discovery of the body of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to him.

Investigators initially treated the case as suspicious, then escalated it into a formal homicide probe as forensic and digital evidence accumulated.

A major turning point came when law enforcement executed search warrants at locations linked to the singer, including a Hollywood Hills property where electronic devices and other materials were seized for forensic review.

Investigators also began building a timeline using cell data, vehicle movement records, and witness statements, gradually identifying inconsistencies in accounts surrounding the victim’s disappearance and death.

By late 2025 and early 2026, prosecutors escalated the case to a grand jury, where D4vd was named a “target” of the investigation. This indicated authorities believed there was substantial evidence warranting potential murder charges, though no formal indictment had yet been issued at that stage.

The investigation also expanded to include individuals close to the artist, with subpoenas issued and at least one associate reportedly detained as a potential witness in the case.

Authorities stated they were working to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the teen’s death, which remains officially under homicide investigation.

On April 16, 2026, D4vd was arrested by LAPD on suspicion of murder and held without bail pending charging decisions by prosecutors. Officials said the arrest followed months of investigative buildup, including forensic analysis and grand jury proceedings, though no final charges have yet been publicly confirmed.
