Monday, April 13, 2026 - A French couple have been arrested after they sparked outrage when they were seen having s£x on a remote Thai beach.
The pair, named by officers as Halan, 24, and Nadia, 24,
were reportedly seen romping on the sand at Rayee Beach on the
holiday island of Phuket on April 10.
Footage appears to shows the n@ked woman on top of her
partner as they moved vigorously in full view of several stunned
passers-by.
Shocked locals said the pair showed no regard for other
visitors, claiming they were moaning loudly enough to be heard across the
beach during the brazen public s£x act.
Residents also slammed police for not patrolling the area to prevent such incidents.
One local said: "Great, go for it. Because in our
country, there are no rules or regulations. It's shameful. You can do whatever
you want. The laws aren't strict enough."
Another added: "So many foreigners do this when they come here. They are like animals. I would rather be poor, without any tourists visiting, than live in this environment."
Following public outrage, officers began searching for the
pair. They were tracked down to a hotel in the Kathu district of Phuket and
arrested.
Pictures taken at the station show Halan and Nadia covering
their faces.
They both reportedly admitted it was them in the video, and
they were fined 5,000 baht (£115) each for "committing an indecent act in
public by being naked or exposing the body, or committing other obscene
acts".
Police Colonel Anurak Parinyasathirakul said: "Officers
explained to the two tourists why it was illegal to do what they did. They said
they did not know it was an offence. They said they were relaxed because they
are on holiday and became carried away in the moment.
"Both of the tourists admitted what they did and
accepted a fine. Their details were taken, and the immigration officers were
notified of the case for consideration of their visas."
Public s£x is punishable by a fine of up to 5,000 baht under
Thai law. But the threat has seemingly done little to deter holidaymakers from
engaging in outdoor nudity
