Iran FM rejects reports it fired missiles at Turkiye

Tuesday, March 31, 2026-Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has rejected reports that the country fired missiles toward Turkiye, calling the claims “completely baseless.” The remarks came during a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, following media reports that a missile had entered Turkish airspace before being intercepted.

Araghchi warned against what he described as “false flag operations” aimed at damaging relations between the two countries and reaffirmed Iran’s respect for Turkiye’s sovereignty. He also expressed Tehran’s willingness to cooperate in verifying the incident and investigating the claims jointly.

The denial comes amid rising regional tensions, with multiple reports of intercepted missiles near Turkish territory in recent weeks. Despite these incidents, Iranian officials have consistently denied targeting Turkiye, emphasizing a commitment to maintaining stable relations with neighboring countries.
