HEGSETH vows thorough probe of school strike that TRUMP blamed on Iran

Sunday, March 15, 2026- Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has pledged a comprehensive and thorough investigation into the deadly strike on a girls’ school in Minab that originally was blamed on Iran by Donald Trump.

The incident — which officials in Tehran say killed at least 175 civilians, many of them children — has drawn intense scrutiny and conflicting explanations over who was responsible and how the attack occurred. Hegseth emphasized that the investigation will examine all aspects of the strike and take as long as necessary to uncover the full truth.

Hegseth announced that a general officer outside of U.S. Central Command will lead the inquiry, a move intended to bolster objectivity and avoid potential conflicts of interest. Initial findings from U.S. military investigators suggest that outdated intelligence may have played a role in the targeting, leading to the school being mistakenly identified as a military site. The probe will involve detailed interviews, reviews of targeting data, and examination of communications surrounding the operation.

The decision to launch a full investigation comes amid mounting political controversy, as Trump initially blamed Iran for the strike despite evidence pointing to U.S. involvement, and lawmakers from both parties called for answers. Hegseth has said the U.S. military does not intentionally target civilians and has highlighted that only one side in the conflict intentionally avoids civilian harm, even as questions persist about what went wrong in this tragic episode.
