Monday, February 9, 2026-Punjab Chief Minister has praised the residents of Lahore for strictly following safety protocols during this year’s Basant celebrations, highlighting the city’s commitment to public safety. Authorities had implemented comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent accidents and ensure smooth festivities, and officials report that compliance was significantly higher than in previous years.
The CM emphasized that responsible behavior by citizens played a crucial role in avoiding potential injuries and property damage, especially given the high risk historically associated with kite flying and other Basant activities. Police and municipal teams also commended the public for cooperating with enforcement measures, including restricted kite-flying zones and safety inspections across the city.
The successful observance of SOPs during Basant is being seen as a model for balancing cultural traditions with public safety. Officials have urged residents to continue prioritizing safety in future events, noting that community cooperation can make celebrations both joyous and secure.
