TRUMP’s Venezuela raid left celebs stranded on St. Barts

Wednesday, January 7, 2026- A sudden and dramatic U.S. military operation in Venezuela over the weekend triggered widespread airspace closures in the Caribbean, leaving numerous celebrities and high-profile travelers unexpectedly stuck on the luxury island of St. Barts and nearby destinations.

The Federal Aviation Administration temporarily shut down civilian flights across the region in response to heightened security measures tied to the raid, halting both commercial airlines and private jets and grounding depart-after-holiday travel plans.

Hollywood stars and notable figures who were vacationing in the Caribbean for New Year’s celebrations found themselves unable to leave when the closure took effect. Among those reported to be stranded were Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, Queen Latifah, Mike Tyson, Ming Lee Simmons, and nightlife promoter Richie Akiva, all forced to extend their stays as flights were canceled or postponed.

Some even attempted to reach neighboring islands like Anguilla and Saint Martin by boat in hopes of finding alternative routes home, but many were turned back amid the chaos.

The disruption also had real-world consequences beyond inconvenience. Leonardo DiCaprio missed a major award ceremony in California where he was scheduled to be honored, underscoring how far-reaching the operational fallout was for even well-connected travelers.

Luxury hotels and villas in St. Barts quickly filled up as demand surged, and stranded vacationers looked for creative solutions — including organizing social events to make the best of the situation — while they waited for the FAA to lift restrictions and allow flights to resume.
