Thursday, January 29, 2026-Organizers of the “No Kings” movement have announced a third nationwide day of protest set for Saturday, March 28, marking a major escalation in what has become one of the largest sustained protest movements in the United States.
The demonstrations are being planned in cities across the country, and organizers are projecting that this round could be the largest yet, with as many as nine million participants expected to turn out. The flagship rally is scheduled for Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, reflecting the region’s central role in recent national outrage over federal actions there.
The “No Kings” protests began as coordinated demonstrations against what participants describe as authoritarian measures and federal overreach, especially targeting policies and enforcement actions by the Trump administration. Millions of people joined previous nationwide events first in June and again in October drawing protesters to town squares, state capitals, and major urban centers to demand greater accountability and defend civil liberties.
The movement is rooted in a coalition of activist groups, including Indivisible and other progressive organizations, who have framed the protests as a defense of democratic principles rather than allegiance to any single party.
This March’s mobilization builds on that momentum amid heightened political tension following controversial federal immigration enforcement and clashes with demonstrators. Organizers emphasize nonviolent participation, widespread local coordination, and broad outreach to expand engagement beyond traditional protest spaces.
With the nationwide demonstration days now becoming a recurring fixture in U.S. politics, the “No Kings” movement continues to push its message that American political power should rest with the people rather than concentrated authority, a theme likely to shape public discourse as the spring progresses.
