Tuesday, January 6, 2026- The prime ministers of Greenland and Denmark have issued a forceful diplomatic rebuke to President Donald Trump in response to his renewed comments about taking over Greenland, a strategically important Arctic territory. Trump has repeatedly stated that the United States “needs Greenland” for national security, tying his rhetoric to recent U.S. military actions abroad.
In strong public statements, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stressed that the United States has no legal right to annex Greenland and urged Washington to cease its takeover talk against a historic and close NATO ally.
