CONOR MCGREGOR responds after UFC boss shoots down potential fight

Saturday, January 17, 2026- Conor McGregor has publicly brushed off recent comments from UFC President Dana White ruling out a long‑teased fight against Michael Chandler at the historic UFC White House event planned for June 14, 2026.

White said the matchup wasn’t under consideration and described it as something from “a couple of years ago.” McGregor, who hasn’t fought since a severe leg injury in 2021, made it clear that he remains focused on fighting regardless of the opponent, stating that promoters should “pick who ya want” and proclaiming that he “sweats nothing and nobody.”

McGregor had previously expressed strong interest in finally meeting Chandler in the octagon after they served as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, and fans had anticipated the bout during the UFC White House card. A training injury prevented the fight from happening previously, and the recent comments from White seemed to close that door once again. Despite the setback, McGregor’s response suggests he’s undeterred and still intent on competing at the event if possible.

While White’s comments appeared to dampen expectations for a McGregor‑Chandler showdown, sources familiar with UFC discussions say the matchup remains of interest behind the scenes given enthusiasm from both fighters. For now, McGregor’s future opponent and whether he will headline the June card remains uncertain as the UFC continues to finalize matchmaking.
