Friday, January 30, 2026-Azerbaijan’s top diplomat has made a clear and firm declaration to neighboring Iran that Baku will not permit its airspace or territory to be used by any country to carry out military operations against the Islamic Republic.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov conveyed this position during a phone call with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing that Azerbaijan views such use of its sovereign space as unacceptable under any circumstances. The statement reflects a deliberate effort by Azerbaijan to avoid entanglement in rising regional tensions and maintain stability along its borders.
