Atlanta Falcons part ways with RAHEEM MORRIS and TERRY FONTENOT

Monday, January 5, 2026- In a bold and urgent shake-up that signals a new direction for the franchise, the Atlanta Falcons have officially fired head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot following another underwhelming season that ended at 8-9 and outside the playoffs.

The decision was announced immediately after the season finale, making it clear that ownership believes the organization must act now to escape mediocrity and reposition itself for sustained growth.

The move comes despite a late-season push that included a four-game winning streak and a narrow victory over division rival New Orleans. Still, consistent failure to reach the postseason ultimately outweighed any short-term momentum.

Morris finishes his tenure with a 16-18 record, while Fontenot departs after multiple seasons without a playoff appearance. The message from the top is unmistakable: progress without results is no longer acceptable, and accountability has arrived.

With both leadership positions now vacant, the Falcons have already launched an aggressive search for a new head coach and general manager. This reset gives the organization a crucial opportunity to realign its vision, maximize its young talent, and rebuild trust with a fan base hungry for relevance. The next hires will define the Falcons’ trajectory — and the clock is already ticking.
