UK campaigner targeted by TRUMP accuses tech giants of ‘sociopathic greed’

Sunday, December 28, 2025 -A British campaigner at the centre of an escalating political and tech controversy has sharply criticized major technology companies, accusing them of “sociopathic greed” as his legal battle intensifies in the United States.

Imran Ahmed, chief executive of the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), is currently fighting a U.S. visa ban and potential deportation after the Trump administration barred him and four other European figures, claiming they pressured American tech platforms to censor U.S. viewpoints.

Ahmed, a lawful U.S. permanent resident living in Washington, D.C., secured a temporary restraining order in court this week that blocks any attempt by authorities to detain or remove him while his case proceeds.

In public remarks, Ahmed did not hold back in blaming powerful social media and AI companies for his predicament, arguing that these firms resist accountability and leverage their influence in Washington to shield themselves from scrutiny.

He described their behavior as driven by arrogance and greed that dismisses the harm their platforms cause, particularly around hate speech and misinformation — areas CCDH has actively campaigned against. Ahmed’s stance is rooted in recent clashes with tech figures such as Elon Musk, whose platform X has been a frequent subject of CCDH reports and Musk’s own failed lawsuit against the organisation.

The urgency of Ahmed’s situation resonates beyond a personal legal fight: it highlights growing tensions between regulators, advocacy groups, and tech giants over content moderation, transparency, and influence.

With a key court hearing scheduled to consider the legality of the sanctions, the outcome could have broader implications for how tech companies are held to account in both the U.S. and abroad. Ahmed insists that his advocacy is non‑partisan and rooted in protecting users — not stifling free speech — and vows to continue his work regardless of political pushback.
