Ski patrol strike shuts down Colorado's popular Telluride resort indefinitely

Monday, December 29, 2025 -Colorado’s Telluride Ski Resort has been forced to close indefinitely as ski patrol staff go on strike, disrupting winter activities for thousands of visitors.

Resort officials say the strike impacts safety operations, making it impossible to maintain normal skiing and snowboarding services while ensuring guest security.

Union representatives cite concerns over staffing levels, working conditions, and compensation as reasons for the strike, calling for urgent negotiations with resort management.

Travelers who had planned trips are being advised to postpone or cancel, while local businesses that rely on ski tourism brace for economic impact.

Officials stress that the closure will remain in effect until a resolution is reached, with safety as the top priority. The dispute highlights broader labor tensions in the ski industry, where demands for fair treatment and adequate staffing have increasingly led to disruptions during peak season.
